Last night as I am almost asleep I had a funny witty and very cleaver idea for a blog post. Sure I would remember in the morning I rolled over ans went to sleep. This morning I woke up and I have nothing.
This is a very common occurrence for me. It use to happen in my car but as soon as I discovered my phone had a voice record option to record my thoughts I stopped having good ideas when I was driving.
Now they occur in the middle of the night right before I fall asleep or at 3AM.
You are all thinking I should write them down so I dont forget and that is very good advice.
But I have so many issues sleeping that I am afraid once do anything beyond laying in bed and forcing my self to sleep (yea I said force) will keep me awake for hours.
Plus the few times I have tried that I wake up and read me notes....they are usually gibberish and make no sense.
Which brings me to the question why do I always think my best ideas come to me at night when I am on the verge of sleep and barely coherent?
Where do you get your best ideas?
Sometimes great ideas come to me while I'm in the shower…never a convenient place! Lol!…I guess I could write it on the wall with my son's bath crayons. Lol!
ReplyDeleteI think you should do just that!!!! Just dont rinse it off until you have a chance to write it down on paper
DeleteGreat ideas are always so inconvenient! I get them while I'm driving a lot...and then someone cuts me off.
ReplyDeleteThats horrible.
DeleteI am the same way. First, I'm a total night owl and get my best energy after midnight. Then when I do make it to bed and let my mind "unwind" I start coming up with ideas and feeling compelled to get up and work on them.
ReplyDeleteTry keeping a journal by the bed, it helps!
I just hate turning on the light it wakes me up and it would be hard to go back to sleep. Of course I am not sure my ideas are all that great. lol
DeleteI completely understand about getting an idea and forgetting about it later. I have started writing things down as soon as I am able or it is gone forever. One trick I use when I think of an idea and can't write it down right away, I associate it with something else or make a little story around it. The more detail the more I remember at least some of it or the basic idea.
ReplyDeleteYesterday's post was inspired by reading an entry from Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach. Now I realize I should go back and edit it so that I credit her with the inspiration.
I find my inspiration in many places. I once was in the bath and came up with a whole meditation. Of course I didn't have paper and pen so I jumped out of the bath, grabbed a towel and typed it into my computer. After that I never take a bath without my pad and pen.
Peace,
Morgan
LOL...OMG I have jumped out of the shower to write stuff down but mostly so I can answer a text message. lol
DeleteThis is a great post. I also get my best ideas in the shower. Sometimes they appear in my dreams, but I am lucky that I can usually remember them. There is a whiteboard you can get for your shower that doesn't rinse off if that is how you find inspiration.

You can probably find a cheaper alternative
I like the idea of a white board in the shower...I could write love notes to The BF
DeleteMy ideas come all over. I carry sticky notes or will just repeat it until I get where im going. Its usually from something I saw, heard in a song, or something someone said (one word) that sparks an idea. I can be in the middle of something and just walk away to write it down then simply return like nothing happened. I have to laugh because the kids are like mom where are you going...i wont say a word because if I do I may lose the thought! So I must hv sticly pads all over the hse and I jot and leave it right there....if I move it I will forget the reason. It will say something simple like let your heart be pure....living room. Yeah wierdo mess but it works for me!
ReplyDeleteThats so funny. I may try that idea.
