Holly Sheep!!!!

There are many benefits and just as many draw backs of living in small town rural America.

I am not sure if this falls into the benefits or draw back or drawback category.

It did make my morning commute interesting

Yes, those are sheep!!!

They were herding sheep through the treacherous canyon.

This happens twice a year, moving the sheep from their winter to summer pasture and back again.

Yes, that is my windshield wiper...don't worry that I was taking pictures and driving. I was only driving 7MPH...we had a sheep traffic jam

I have no idea where the summer and winter pasture are but I knew they herd them through the canyon to get them there.

Welcome to my small town.

How Do You Know its Fall?

Monday through Friday I drive through a "treacherous canyon" on my commute to and from work. In the summer its hot and in the winter its freaking scary sometimes.

But in the fall its beautiful. Its how I know fall has arrived. All week long I have been watching the leaves and the scenery change....probably not the smartest thing I have done while driving but I couldn't help myself.

So for your viewing pleasure* I would like to present Sardine Canyon (dont ask me about the name...I never understood it).

*A special thanks to The BF who not only drove me on my recent photo shoot but knew just where to take me to get some really good pictures.

Singing in the Snow

Snow on one mountain but not the other

Have you ever notice that people do weird things in their cars?

I have seen people talking to themselves, into their phones, yelling at their kids, arguing with the person in the car next to them.

Half white with snow. Half still green with grass.

I have also seen them putting on makeup, eating and one day I swear I a saw someone driving and painting their nails.

I often see people texting even though it is illegal in Utah.

This is how the day looked cold, cloudy and wet.

I myself like to sing along to whats playing on the radio. I don't even pretend to not being singing I embrace it fully.

But mostly I like to take pictures while driving. I have it down to a science. On this day I wanted to capture the first snow we received this fall. Its already melted but its has been warm since this day.

What do you like to do when you are driving?

Lets all Watch it BURN!!!!

I love a summer storm; warm weather, slight breeze, and a light rain. And yesterday that's what I thought I was getting a nice summer rain storm but that's not what happened. Instead we got a lightening storm. You know the kind of storm that shakes the windows and rattles the doors. And while we were all looking out the window we saw lightening strike the mountain. Soon after I notice smoke on the mountain and after a brief moment of what the hell is that, a call was made to 911 to report a fire on the mountain.

All of this is not a big deal, the fire was put out quickly, no homes were damaged and you cant even tell where the fire was by looking at the mountain today. Soon after the fire started burning we noticed people from all over town start driving up and down the street. First I was confused, our office is on a street that is a little busy but this is ridiculous; then the people start parking and getting out of their cars with binoculars.

We did have the best advantage point to watch our little brush fire and its a small town so not much else to do but don't people have jobs and families. Can they really all just stop what they are doing to watch a little baby fire at a moments notice? And how did everyone hear about it so fast? Seriously it was with in 5 minutes and the street was full of cars all watching the fire.

I of course went outside and took some pictures. Can't let everyone else have all the fun with out me and I was already right there!!!

Can't be Mad About the Snow or Can I

I would like to think that I am a smart girl. And I roll with the punches that come my way.

And a smart girl would say hey a storm is coming, so I'm not going to drive through Hell's Canyon I am going to stay home this weekend. I'll go tomorrow or the next day or maybe next weekend.

So when I get out of training at 7PM and the snow is falling and the wind is blowing and my car already has an inch of snow after 30 minutes.  I do what any smart girl would do: get dinner, go home and start in on the bottle of rum a friend thoughtfully brought back from the Bahamas. I love my friends!!!!

You then spend the evening babysitting your friends kids because you can only watch Sherlock Holmes so many times in a week before you pass that fine line of being a fan of the movie and become pathetic.

The next morning you wake up with a slight headache and look outside and think great now I have to unbury my car before I can do anything.

So you take the dogs out and they thoroughly enjoy the snow running and jumping around like they haven't in years (old lazy dogs). And you smile because dogs are cute, dumb but cute.

Then your 8 year old niece comes up to you and says that's a lot of snow on your car, now your in a bad mood again.

So you unbury your car and loaded it up for the trip. And as your driving your niece to your parents house she looks out the window and says, "Its like we live at the North Pole. It's so beautiful."

So you stop being mad and start looking out your car window and shes right it is beautiful. And your glad that you followed your instinct to take a bunch of pictures that morning, but wishing you could now stay home and edit them.

Providence Canyon

In what turned out to be a vain attempt to cheer The BF up after his beloved Cowboys lost again (hehehe). I agreed to go on a trip to Providence Canyon.  And so as not to completely waste my time I took a book (book review to come) and my camera. Here are the pics I took.....
