The BF...You're My Hero

I know it's been a while since I've posted anything, but you know how it is during the holiday season. Finishing home a guess, getting ready for Christmas and then there was that about of bronchitis I had. So December was a crazy busy month, but I am back…I think…well I'm hoping I'm back at least.

A month ago I told you I would share the story of how The BF became my hero. I have debated whether I should recount the story after I'll happened a month ago, who really cares of this point?

But I think The BF deserves his props…he's a really good guy, and should get his recognition and in the sun. Plus he spoiled me during the holidays and that is a good thing.

So everybody get in your Time Machine so we traveled to Thanksgiving weekend 2012. The Health Nut Sister begged and begged and begged me to go Black Friday shopping with her, even though I haven't been in the good 10+ years, I decided it could be fun to go Black Friday shopping with my sisters. Although for some reason this year like Friday shopping began on Thursday.

Since I was going I figured I should check the ads for my must-have item. And I found the one thing I had to have…700 thread count sheets for $20.

To be honest, who wouldn't want that, that's a really good deal.

So after spending the day with family and being thankful I now had to the store to fight my way for the deal of the week.

Since we've been traveling The BF was with me when I went shopping. I try and make it a point never to bring a man with me when I shop. They asked too many questions and they distract you from your goal, but it's not like I could leave them in the car. I tried to explain to him what it's like to go shopping a black Friday, but I don't think he really understood how serious it was and how dangerous it can get.

So now I'm in a crush of 50 people around the bin that contains 24 sheets…it was about to get real. Although we were all laughing and joking as we waited for the madness to begin.

The whole time The BF kept saying he was just going to stand back and watch..I told him that's fine just stay out of my way.

As a gets closer and closer to the time I am pushing my way closer and closer to the bin, but so is everybody else. I probably would've been safer cage death match, but there was no way I was walking out of the store that some new sheets.

Finally, the time has come, and everybody literally dives for the bin and just as I'm getting to it the unthinkable happens…somebody steps on my foot, just as the crowd shifts. This shift causes me to start to fall along with 10 other people, I'm about to be trampled to death. When a good Samaritan picks me up and saves me. The unintended consequence was, I was now further away from the bin than when I started.

As I frantically search for a way back in I noticed something amazing, on the other side of the bin was The BF and he was right there in the mix. Under one arm he had a set of sheets and he was reaching for a second set. It was in that moment that I realized how much I love him.

And that is the story of how The BF became my hero… I have never loved him more than when he got me my 700 thread count sheets for $20.

Thank Goodness Thanksgiving is Over...I am Exhausted

I know I know its a week after Thanksgiving and I am finally writing a post about it...but I have been busy.

Thanksgiving is not my favorite time of year.

Don't get me wrong I love the time I get to spend with family, the days of from work and of course the food...I really love the food.

But for me Thanksgiving is a mad dash to the finish line with a flurry of activities and events, by the end I need a few more days off to recover from my vacation.
Grandma's house

This year like every year (except last year stupid appendix) I drive to Idaho and have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner at grandmas house. Luckily I didn't have to help cook because my job was to make the pies. I was suppose to make 3 pumpkin pie and 1 banana cream. But then Grandma heard (not from me) that The BF likes lemon meriting pie so she told me to make that also. So now I am making 5 pies and I still have to work every day up to the big day. Be awesome I made them 2 at a time spread out over a week. As I neared the big day I realized I don't like any of those pies so I decided to make one more pie for me...oatmeal. I know what you are thinking but you need to try it first. I will be posting the recipe try it then judge me.

So as you can see I am already tired and its not even Thanksgiving.

Then I drive two hours to grandmas house (why does that always make me want to sing Over the river and through the woods to Grandmothers house we go). I spend a few hours laughing talking and of course eating, but soon its time to pack up and head back to Utah. You see my sister has decided that she is going black Friday shopping and I let her talk me into it and as you may have heard black Friday shopping started on Thursday this year. So after I wrestle and wait I finally make it home around 1145PM. More on this later.

On black Friday I venture out to get a few more things for the kids (I am almost dome with the Christmas shopping, woot woot). Then came home and got pressured into cleaning out my side of the bedroom closet. To be honest it looked like a victim of a natural disaster but now its nice and organized and I cant find a freaking thing...The BF is beyond happy and sometimes that's more important than finding your favorite jeans. Seriously cant find them anywhere.

Baby sister and niece making candy
Saturday is candy making day...its something we do every year in my family it takes all day and we end up with a lot of candy. Its very tiring work. It doesn't sound like it but it really is exhausting.

Then on Sunday its doing all the chores that didn't get done because I was making pies and gone all weekend.

The worse part of all this is I didn't get any good pictures because I left my camera at home...every day. I apologize for my blurry shots. Happy Late Thanksgiving.

Reasons Why I am Glad my Appendix Ruptured.

Some of you may know that my appendix ruptured last week and before I tell that tale I wanted to share 7 reasons I'm glad my appendix ruptured.

  1. For the first time in 20 years I didn't have to cook anything for Thanksgiving dinner. Or do anything but sit on the couch and have people bring me drinks.
  2. I got to have lots of morphine and not worry about any kind of legal repercussions.
  3. Really good excuse to watch daytime TV that I normally don't get to watch or will admit to watching.
  4. I got flowers.
  5. Two Words: Liquid diet
  6. No house work for a week.
  7. I lost 5lbs in 4 days.

If you like it share it
