I Am To Funny

Last night my Mom send me this text message.

  • Mom: You are mean. Just thinking about that that night makes me sick. And you have to tell the world.
At first I had no idea what she was talking about, it was a really random text. Usually when she sends me random texts I immediately know what she is talking about but this time she had me stubbed.

Then I realized she must have read my blog post from yesterday.

  • Me: It was funny
  • Mom: No it wasn't
  • Me: The next day was funny...when I showed up.
This lead to a brief conversation that involved Health Nut Sister about whither I am funny or not. Which I am. I am freaking hilarious if I do say so myself. And I would like to say seeing a 4 year old (although I think she may have actually been 3) unman two grown women is actually very funny. And its even funnier knowing that at least one of them still gets sick when thinking about that night. ( I can't help it if she doesn't know its funny)

The whole conversation brought up an interesting topic, when you have a blog like this (which is basically me just rambling) what events and topics are off limit? Is anything off limits?

I don't know about you but all is fair in love and blogging.

Personally I won't blog about things that are very personal. That's not true...I do talk about personal stuff all the time. I guess I don't talk about other peoples personal stories, unless there stories involve me and are not hurtful. Unless the hurt is physical pain like the month when I broke my wrist , my niece broke hers and then Health Nut Sister messed up her wrist. That was also funny.

Then we are back to all is fair in love and blogging.

Or is it war and blogging?

Its Been 6 Weeks Since My Last Confession

Last night I received a text from my mom wondering why I never blog anymore. I told her I was stressed but I honestly thought it hasn't been that long.

Then I logged on to my blog and realized its been about 6 weeks. EEEEE GAD...its been 6 weeks. who knew. Well my mom did but I was slightly clueless.

Of course I am often clueless.

I really am, I don't know what I was thinking. How did I go so long without blogging? I have been seriously stressed out and busy.

Its been a little crazy in my life and I guess I should share the details.

  1. My sister is getting married. We have 6 weeks to plan the wedding. This has taken up a a large block of my time. Much more than I thought it would. I will share the details in a later post.
  2. I have been crazy busy at work...I am not going to blog about that later but I will say there has been some running around like a chicken with its head cut off.
  3. My baby sister graduated college...yeah little sister. So there was a family trip that involved lots of driving, hotel swimming and an argument about dogs in the family picture. This I will blog about.
I guess what I am saying is, thanks to my mom, I am back and blogging.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Do I Make You Want to Puke?

Yesterday I noticed a comment on my blog and like most bloggers I was very excited about a new comment...until I read the comment. It was from an anonymous writer that said "you make me want to puke".

Yes, you read that right it said "you make me want to puke".

I do not like anonymous comments but until now I have allowed them because... well to be honest I like comments of any kind. Until this comment I have only had positive comments or comments that further the discussion so never worried about the possibility of negative comments. I have even been "taken to task" by readers when it was needed and accepted the comments happily. But I have never before received an openly mean comment.

And I am a little sad, not about the comment (more on that in a bit) but because we live in a world were these "comment and run" practice are very common. The internet has made it so easy to be mean and not be held accountable for your actions. People leave mean hateful comments all the time then disappear never to be heard from again.

I think this is a little cowardly. If through the anonymity of the internet you are brave enough to make the comment "man up" and leave your name. Start a dialogue don't just throw out mean jabs like "you make me want to puke" or 'I hate you" (I haven't received this comment but a blogger friend of mine did.)

But despite all that I have decided to exam this comment more thoroughly. So everyone put on your thinking caps.

What does the writer mean when they say "You make me want to puke"? Since I don't know who wrote the comment I can not infer any meaning into the comment. Do I know you? Did I cook one of my amazing meals and it made you ill? Did I "share" my germs and give you the stomach bug I had last week? Did I say something so offensive that you become physical ill? I don't feel like I have enough information to give this comment any real meaning or to understand how I make you want to puke.

Because of this I am okay deleting this comment from my blog. I have never done that. I believe that all comments can lead to discussion and are valid but since the writer choose not to leave their name I am choosing to not keep the comment.

So my friends did I handle this situation correctly? What would you do if it happened to you? Or what did you when it happened to you?

To Change or Not to Change!

I haven't been writing much in the last few weeks.

At first I thought my life was boring and there wasn't much to write about but a lot has happened.

Then I thought I had writers block but I have had several ideas I just never wrote anything.

Soon I was wondering whats going on....why wasn't I writing? And I came to the conclusion I am having a identity crisis. I no longer no what kind of blog I am writing.

At first it was a place to tell the funny stories that happened to me daily. Then it morphed into a diary of sorts where I talked about all the things that are me including book reviews. But the books reviews were clogging everything about so I moved them and it was just a diary of sorts. Then I starting sharing the occasional recipe and that was really popular.

As I started reviewing the last few months a new theme seems to be emerging, that of a loud mouthed small town single girl that turned into a loud mouthed Donna Reed. No not Donna Reed more like frontier woman. But that has been done before by woman much better at it than me.

Whatever is going on at least I have something to write about again.

A Call to Arms

After realizing I may be in a cast for at least 6 weeks and possibly as long as 12 (thanks WebMD) I know I would not be able to blog like I want (it took me three minutes to type that sentence one handed)*.

As I sat at home staring at my laptop true inspiration struck....I need guest bloggers. Lots and lots of guest bloggers.

So I started contact a number of my bloggy friends and they responded with concern and willingness to help.

Over the next few weeks I will be writing posts but I will also have a number of guest bloggers that will be sharing there thoughts on anything and everything!!!

I would like to say thank you to everyone who is offering to help me out.

I cant wait to see what they write.

If you also want to guest post just email me at girlluck13@live.com

*It took me 22 minutes to type this whole post. I'm going to need a lot of help.

This is the Thought that Never Stops

Do you ever have a thought that never goes away?

You have an idea to share but you cant get it to come out right.

You try and try but it doesn't want to be written.

So you move on and try to write something else knowing that when the time is right it will come out.

But you can't write anything else because this thought wont be filled away.

Every day the issue pops up. Over and over.

No matter what fun exciting things you do, it is there.

No matter what bizarre and crazy things happen, it is waiting.

No matter what awesome books you are reading this thought is there begging to be told but unable to be expressed.

Well that is where I am at right now!!! I have so much to say and share, not to mention book reviews, but nothing will come out because of this one idea wanting to be expressed.

I have decided to write every day until I am able to express it...even if all I am saying is I still cant express it.

This is going to be fun....it may also prove I am crazy.

Guest Posting at Campfire Song

Today I am guest posting over at Campfire Song. Let me take a moment to introduce you to my friend Lindsey.
I’m Lindsey. I’m mom to four kiddoes, aged four and under. (It’s a nuthouse around here, but I spend too much time laughing to regret spacing my kids so closely.) The Search is On

There comes a time in the life of a blogger when you want to know how people are finding your blog. So you check the searches people are making to find you.

And because you are in a hurry and have nothing else to write about that day you decide to share it with all your readers.

Sometime the results are exciting, after all these are all about my name, my blogs name and my blogs URL:
a girl named michael blog
can a girl be called Michael
a girl named Michael
girls named Michael
girl named michael
agirlnamedmichael-mj.blogspot.com

Sometimes they are directly related to a post:
can i date my friends ex husband
you are trying to post content on Facebook that has been marked
angry birds ruined my life
dating friends ex husband
i am dating my friends ex husband
macgyver lost son my friends ex husband
my ex husband dating my best friend
mark zukerbergs email

Sometimes they are indirectly related to a post:
napalm and grass smell
feet and now my mom is
15 facts about a girl
fun fact about a girl

Sometimes you have no idea how they found you but you are excited they did:
she claims she was in labor
sick day secret agent
sneezy girls blogspot
he ran to the store

And sometimes you are shocked and grossed out about how people find you:
pictures of girls peeing

Pervs need not apply!!!

Its an Honor to be Nominated

The other day I logged in to twitter and I found out that Brittany(aka TheButterflyMom) from Rambling from a Diva had given me a Versatile Blogger Award. What??? Really???? WOW!!!!!!

I am not one to turn down an award and to be honest not only was I surprised but really honored. I admire Brittany and her honest, no holds barred, fun, "I have an opinions and you are going to listen" blogging. I check in with her blog almost daily. If you haven't checked out her blog you need to and follow her on twitter (she has me laughing daily).

But after all my excitement I discovered that getting the award means I have to do a few things. This is why I could never be Miss. America, I would not be able to fulfill my obligations. However these are duties I can do....talking about myself and talking up other bloggers.

So the rules of the Versatile Blogger Award are:
  • Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to them in your post.
  • Tell us seven things about yourself. (I did this last week so I am going to change it up a little.)
  • Award fifteen recently discovered new bloggers.
7 things you would hear me say commuting home from work. (The things I say to work are totally different).
  1. Get off your phone and drive!!!!
  2. Jerk off (followed with a hand gesture)
  3. OOOHHHH cows...we should have steak for dinner
  4. Goofy called he wants his licenses back
  5. I hate this song. I HATE this song too. Serious is it bad music hour.
  6. Dead deer....freaking terrorists.
  7. It's the end of the month I bet Robocop is waiting around the corner to give speeding tickets.

Now I have to pick 15 bloggers....this is hard. Okay so sue me I am only picking 10 because lets face it I am lazy and my computer is slow.

1. The Spaghetti WesternerThe Good, The Bad and The Ugly in the life of this house wife.

2. Bewildered BugI am a 30-something PR-friendly "smug-married" self-proclaimed people-watcher trying ti navigate through life. The blog relays my clumsy attempts to transverse the obstacle course called life.

3. Chaotic Rantings of a Housewife Love, laughs, Caffeine, Estrogen, Hormones, and Craziness. Just my journey through this crazy world!

4. Blessed Momma MusingsBaby. Teenager. Marriage.Work. Faith.

5. Life is Hard, Laugh AnywayTrying to remain optimistic by any means necessary. Laughter helps!

6. Seasoned AF Spouse: Been Around for a Minute.

7. Essential Mama BabyFrom one mother to another!

8. The Girl BehindPictures and Pondering on the Road to being 40.

9. A Simple LifeWe are on a journey to find our way back to the basics.Aiming to be good stewards and more generous with all we have been blessed with! You can come along too, its a journey meant to be shared.

10. Our Typical LifeA mom, a dad, two girls and a camera.

Blogs I Love

Once not that long ago I didn't have a blog. I didn't even read blogs I was all full of contempt saying I would rather read a book. Then one day 2 of my cousins introduced me to a blog I feel in love with and soon I was immersed in the world of bloggers even starting 1 myself. Now I have 2 blogs and read more blogs than I can count.

I would like to take a moment to highlight some of my favorite blogs:
  • Do you know Ree Drummond if not you should get to know her. Pioneer woman extraordinary, after reading her blog you will secretly plotting to get your man in a cowboy hat and wranglers never mind you don't like cowboys.
  • Have you ever wanted to say what everyone was thinking but not get in trouble for it? Well you don't have to because Blogging Dangerously does it for you while she keeps you laughing out loud and determined to complete your homework.
  • What are Chocolate Covered Crochet Hooks? Visit my cousins blog to find out. Dedicated to living life as green as possible this blog is full of craft projects and yummy food recipes along with her experience of reducing her carbon footprint.
  • I was never a fan of the mommy blog until I ran across One Happy Momma. I might be biased because she is a relative but this blog is full of crafty projects you can do on a budget not to mention lots of pictures of one cute little boy.
  • Speaking of a cute baby let me introduce you to The Porter Report. Another cousin by marriage that chronicles the day to day life of ranching in Idaho. Full of yummy recipes, fun crafts and cute baby pictures.
But you know since I joined the SITS Girls I have come across some awesome blogs....to many to list in one post. Here are a few of my favorites:
  • NirvanaMamma not only encourages you to find your bliss but also has several posts about blogging that are helpful inspiring and just plain funny.
  • A Simple Life is about a family's journey out of debt. Not only is it honest but also informative and entertaining.
  • Hannah wept Sarah laughed is a blog that talks about an issue no one talks about out loud infertility. Very frank you will be uplifted for reading this blog.
  • Mora Junction talks to us about well everything. Discussing everything from recipes, to children to politics. You will want to keep reading long past the time when you should stop.
  • Instant Dane is dedicated to exploring the longevity of life he discusses everything from nutritious eating and why to do list are a good thing.
I feel bad my post is getting long and I could go on and on with all the great blogs I have discovered. I guess I will just have to write another post dedicated to them.

Dont Block Me In!!!

As I mentioned a few days ago I am participating in the 31 Day Challenge to a better blog sponsored by The SITS Girls. Today's challenge was to do some mind mapping to come up with new blog post ideas. And wouldn't you know it that I am suffering some major writers blog and its all my sisters fault.

Yup that's right my sister is to blame for my problems. How you might ask? Well I had this brilliant funny cleaver blog idea and I was actually writing it when my sister told me I couldn't blog about it. WHAT!!!! Everyone knows that everything is fair game for blogging. Iif you send me a text message then there is a 50:50 chance it will end up on my blog, possibly even months later. In addition any thing I find funny is going to end up on my blog and  this was really funny.

But my sister has asked me not to write my post and this caused me to freeze and stumble over any other posts. So much so that when I had a funny relationship issue I tried writing about it, it came out all wrong and was not the least bit funny. Then I had an idea on how to expand a past post but once again I  couldn't get it to work on paper.

I have jotted down some notes and ideas so I can come back to ideas but what I really need is some ideas on how to move forward past the block. Please help with your suggestions on getting past writers block.

A Girl w/out a Niche

Recently I joined a blogging forum/site The SITS Girls. They are all about supporting woman bloggers. And they are amazing, fun, inspiring and all those other good adjectives. Right now they are doing a 30 day challenge to improve your blog and increase your followers. Besides being fun its been very helpful. Recently they have been talking about connecting with other bloggers in your niche. My only problem is I am not sure what my blogging niche is. I have never thought about my blog beyond its all about me, me and me. I do post book reviews does that make my blog a book reviewer blog. I don’t consider myself a book reviewer, I really only include them because they are such a big part of my life.

And now I am a feeling like a square girl in a round life or a round girl in a skinny world. It takes me back to be a kid in a small town and having the only divorced mom in town. Living in Utah and not being LDS. Being a Liberal in a Conservative family. Working in a social worker field with a degree in Microbiology. You get the idea.

Now I wonder do I need a niche. Will my blog suffer without one? Do I care? I would like to say no but a do I want to have a successful blog that people enjoy reading.

So please help me...What is my niche????

My Sincerest Apoligies

I am  feeling brave this week. I want to play around with setting and things (things is a very technically word don’t ya think) I can do with my blog.

I think experimenting is the only way to truly learn something. Mostly I want to be a technological guru but never will be so periodically I try and do something technical to make myself feel better. (I am full of techno words today: something technical)

I am sorry for any confusion this may cause you. Personally I hate when people change a format or style I have become use to and comfortable with.

Don’t worry I am sure I will go back to what you expect.

Most of you are now thinking its a blog not the Declaration of Independence. You need to relax Michael!

Whatever I just want to let the 6 people dedicated to my blog to be informed. And remember that old break up line when things start looking weird...Its not you, its me!!!

Who Are You?

I have a confession to make!!! Its not seedy or scandalous and if I was a celebrity no would care about my supposed sin but none the less I fell compelled to seek absolution and repent

Ok its not the least bit repent worth except for maybe of the sin vanity and I am not even sure if it is that. And I am not Catholic so even if it was repent worth its not like I am going to confession or be required to say some Hail Mary’s or Oh My Fathers. Being that I am not Catholic I am not even sure I am using terms correctly please forgive me if I have messed them up.

My great sin is that I am obsessed with the people who read my blog.

Not just the friends and family who read it but the people I don’t know.

According to blogger I have people all over the world who periodically read my blog. I am not sure how accurate these stats are but blogger says you are from other countries and blogger couldnt be wrong. But it is probably more like some weird internet thing where the people are all from my home town but for security reasons there internet signals are bouncing all over the world like some thing out of a Matt Damon or Leonard deCaprio movie ( watch a lot of TV). And since I know very little about how the internet works (I once told my niece it was magic hehehehe) I am going to believe blogger no matter what.

And I hope you enjoy what you read but mostly I want to know all about your life. How did you stumble upon my blog? Where do you live? And how do you spend your free time? Where do you work? How many kids do you have? Are you single, married, divorced or widowed?

Please tell me about yourself so that I can stop obsessing.

Thank you in advance.

If you like it share it
