My Eulogy

If I was to write my own eulogy it would probably go something like this...

A Girl Named Michael died tragically today in a freak accident, she was crushed by a bookshelf that she had overloaded with books.

Michael was born in a small Idaho town, for 18 months her life was perfect and then her parents brought home one of several siblings. She then spent the rest of her life bossing her siblings, parents, coworkers and random strangers around. She could often be heard saying, "I told you I was right."

For years she lived an unsettled slightly vagabond life never really satisfied with what was going on, until she moved back to her small town. She loved being close to her nieces and nephews so much she decided that living in the small town was acceptable.

She meet her life partner The BF through his ex-wife, she could often be heard giggling about having the best how we meet story in the world. She took great pains trying to be a good and off beat "pseudo" step-mom...she really succeeded in the off beat part, the good part is subjective.

She is survived by her beloved dog Tashi, cat Tigger and a bunch of family. Actually a lot of family, more family then one girl should have and it would take to long to mention them all. But she loved them almost as much as the dog and cat.

She leaves behind a closet full of unfinished projects, more scarves then one person should own and a legacy of klutziness.

I Just Love Him so Much

Okay so its been awhile since I have blogged.

Life got a little busy and I decided to take a brief brake from the blogsphere.  The good news I am back and have lots to share including recipes and all sorts of fun adventures including what happened to me on black Friday and why The BF is my hero.

But to start I want to share the exciting family news....my new nephew Skyson. Yup I am an aunt again. It really is the best role I play.

Skyson was born 11/28/2012. He is 7lbs 14oz and is 19.5 inches long.

Did you notice the red hair???? Yup we proudly have another red head in the family. I think they are occurring more often them they use to in my family unlike the rest of the world.

I haven't met Skyson yet...I have been fighting a cold (another reason for my long absence).

I hope he calls me Aunt Michael....I love being called Aunt Michael.

Perpetual Sadness

There is a sadness about you today.

Someone said that to me yesterday.

There is a sadness about you today.

They were right.

I have a sadness to me that has been with me all day.

Its the sadness that cuts you apart and shakes you to the core.

I had tried to go about my day like nothing is wrong but apparently I failed.

But my sadness is not my tale to tell.

Its not even about me.

My niece wearing my shoes
I am going to try and move my focus.

I am going to focus on my youngest niece.

My youngest niece and I have a very special bond. The kind of bond that Aunts dream of having with their nieces or nephews. From the moment she came screaming into my life we have been close. I love all my nieces and nephews and have a special bond with them all but I have a very special bond with the youngest.

My Health Nut Sister send me this text on Saturday about her youngest daughter.

  • I told Ashton that Baby Sister was here and she said ok. not very excited then she said Baby Sister can be sissy's (meaning her older sister) Aunt because Michael is my Aunt and I like her better...lol..thought that would make u feel good.
How could that not lighten my heart? I have focused on that thought a lot that last few days.

A Day Like Any Other?

Before I begin this story I want you to know that every thing is okay. No one was harmed in the making of this story.

That's a dramatic start isn't it.

Yesterday started out like any other day. Nothing out of the ordinary...everything was right as rain despite not having any rain for weeks.

Then I received a test from my mom saying my nephew and niece were missing and that they had been missing for a few hours. At first I was very confused. How could they be missing? That just didn't make sense in my mind. As soon as I was able to I called my mom for clarification because she must be wrong they cant be missing.

But she was correct they were in fact missing...last known to be at the park.

I was just sitting in my car distraught and unsure of what do we do next...so I waited. I text my brother and told him to let me know if you need me but still I sat in my car.

Eventually the kids were found unharmed and fine. They didn't even know they were missing, they went to a friends house without permission.

Before I know they were okay my mind went to that bad place.

That place were I store all the horrific things I see and hear because of the nature of my job.

I know how evil people can be to children.

I know in detail what happens to kids who are missing.

I make a big effort to store that stuff in a locked box in my mind.

I try to focus on the good and the people I help.

Its not always easy but you have to do that to stay sane.

And today I am very thankful that they were being normal kids and just went some where with out telling.

I know they probably got in some trouble but when I see them this weekend I am going to have a conversation about doing things that may cause Aunt Michael to get a wrinkle and how I that is never good.

Please hug the kids in your life today.

Dear Aunt Michael

Yesterday I got the following letter in the mail:

Dear aunt Michael
Thanks for the book!
I had been waiting forever
to get that! I've finished
it and I couldn't put
it down! I also liked
the 13 dollars in there!
Thanks!

Its a Thank you note from my nephew for his birthday gift.

I love to read or hear the words Aunt Michael!!!!

I love being an aunt.

I work hard at being a good aunt and trying to find out what my nieces and nephews want and are into.

I think I do a good job. Luckily most of them like to read so a book with money makes a great gift.

Finding the right book is sometimes a challenge but I enjoy the challenge.

To my Sisters and Brothers please have more kids!!!!!!!

I'm Really Tall for a Oompa-Loompa

Text conversation with my mom about my 12 year old nephew
  • Mom: Jamison is taller than me
  • Me: Hahahahaha
  • Mom: Don't laugh if hes taller than me then he is really taller than you. :-)
  • Me: He has been 4 awhile but everyone is so it doesnt bother me
Yes that’s right I am shorter than my mom.

At a whopping 5’1" I am the shortest person in my family. Okay so the 3 year old niece is still way shorter than me and the two 8 year old nieces are shorter but not by much. I know you are shocked because 5'1" is so very tall. How did I end up this short you may ask?

I blame my mother!!!!!

I am not going to go in to details but she knows what she did!*

* I love you mom!!!!

If you like it share it
