You Say Good-bye and I say Hello

Good-bye flip flops. You have been amazing but the time has come to say good-bye.

Its not you its me.

It really is you but isn't that what you say in these situations.

You see my toes are getting cold and you cant keep them warm. Plus I hate wet feet and its been raining for days. I saw snow on the mountains, which means that any day now snow will be in the valley which equals cold and wet feet if I keep wearing you.

OOOHHHH flip flops you have been the workhorse of this years summer foot wear. Cute but not so cute as to over shadow my outfit. You were the shoes I wore when I was in a hurry or couldn't decide which other pair of sandal or flip flop to wear.

You helped me show off endless pedicures in every color of the rainbow this summer. I fear this will be our last summer together. You are getting worn and old. But you lasted three years, you were the best cheap shoe investment I ever made. To be honest you were the best cheap shoe investment my "Health Nut Sister" ever made but who knew when I borrowed you 3 years ago that our relationship would last so long.

I bet she doesn't even remember you but I will remember you always.

I will truly miss you flip fl......oh wait what is this hiding in the back of the closet?

Hello boots...I have missed you.

My Favorite Reason its Fall

I love fall! It is truly my favorite time of year.

Beyond the reprieve from the summer heat, the beautiful colors and of course pumpkin flavored everything; I love that its the time of year for sweaters to come out of storage and boots can be worn everyday.

That's right I love fall because of the clothes.

Its rather shallow of me but what can I say I look good in sweaters and love boots.

I have always liked sweaters and I am sure it has everything to do with having large breasts and being short.

I know you are confused....I have that effect but let me try and explain. At 5'1" clothes just are not made for me. With most collars I show a fair amount of cleavage. I don't mean to but I just have so little space from the bottom of my neck to the top of my breasts (is that your decolletage?) that even a modest v-neck shows more than is decent outside a night club in Las Vegas.

But sweaters cover all that area. No need to layer. No need to double or triple check the mirror. No need to change your outfit because you can't wear that to work. Sweaters are really the most perfect article of clothing for a short big busted girl. There is the added benefit that a sweater worn correctly will enhance your bust line no matter the size.

My love of boots started young. I blame it on the movie Footloose, the original with Kevin Bacon. In one scene the heroine of our story was wearing red cowboy boots and this was the beginning of my obsession with boots not to mention my desire to one day own red cowboy boots...that day hasn't come yet but it will, eventually.

I guess you can say it had a impact on me.

I want to watch Footloose now...the original not the new one.

Score I just found out you can instant stream it on Netflix.

I will see you later.

These Boots are Made for Walking

Aunt Michael impression

Have I mentioned that I have 3 adorable nieces?

I know that I have on several occasions.

One of my nieces has a bit of a shoe obsession...not sure where she gets it but my sister claims that its all my fault.

My sister is probably right.

So it makes perfect sense to me that after I bought some new shoes I would text my niece. After all she would appreciate it the most and I wanted to show them off/brag about them.

  • Me: Check out my birthday shoes.
  • Niece: Im going to steal your boots
  • Me: Good luck with that....they are a size six
  • Niece: I can still wear them
  • Me: You have to be able to get them off my feet and thats not going to happen baby girl
  • Niece: yes it is
  • Me: You are sooooo cute but those are my boots
  • Niece: No they are going to be mine
  • Me: Baby girl you are not mean enough to take my boots off my feet
  • Niece: gyfhd bcyfhhfjojhggi jfjjd jfhhhfih (this is her version of swearing)
  • Me: Im just trying on my new boots
  • Niece: Buttface
  • Me: Buttface? Really you should be nicer to me or ill give your bday present to someone else
  • Niece: what no.
This morning I got up early just so I could catch her before school to show off/brag about my new boots that I am wearing today.

Imagine my disappointment when I missed her.

Serious I got up an hour early just to show off my new boots to my 10 year old niece.

My Health Nut Sister has said on more than one occasion her children, especially the older one, is more like me than her.

I have often said I fear having children in case they turn out more like my sister then me.

After all I am awesome, cool and according to my niece the only one with style in our family besides her of course.

Irony You are a Pair of Shoes

Recently I told you about an eventful trip (pun intended) to the local mega store when I lost my footing and fell. I injured my hand and dropped my phone and fully embarrassed myself on the security cameras (I wouldn't be surprised to see the whole thing on youtube).

Well on Friday I once again lost my footing. This time it was not at the store in front of the security cameras but in front of my office building in front of the security cameras.

It was just a little fall and I caught myself before my whole body hit the pavement.

Unfortunately for me I stopped myself with the same hand I hurt the last time I fell. And while I thought it was no big deal my wrist 5 days later is still throbbing and it hurts when I move it.

And while I am debating the merits of going to the Dr for an Xray and trying to decide if I should tell my mom, I realize one very important itty bitty fact. I was wearing the same shoes both times I fell. I am not saying it was the shoes, I fall a lot, but maybe next time I wear them I should be sure to hold on to the railing for my own protection.

I know some of you are saying maybe I should toss the shoes....but common these shoes are to cute not to wear. And wear often!!!!

UGH....I Make my Life Diffucult!!!

This morning as I was getting ready for work and contemplating my day and choice of clothes, I was frustrated more so than usual due to my lack of appropriate foot wear. Since I am now spending half my week in Logan and half my week in Brigham, I have half my clothes and shoes in each location.

For some reason, I can not imagine why, I have only high heels at my Logan home except for 1 pair of very cute bright pink flats that I unfortunately did not have an outfit to match in Logan. I do have several outfits at my Brigham home. Normally this is not a big deal but since I have a broken toe.

I stop by my private physician's office (I call her mom) to have said little toe tapped up so that it wont throb all day. As I am taking off my measly little 2 inch heels my mom makes a crack about wearing the wrong shoes today. I shrug and say they were the shoes I had available and I have court so I couldn't wear my sneakers. But really should she have been surprised by my choice of foot wear. I have always been a believer in style before comfort.

But maybe just maybe mom was right!!!! And I should have worn different shoes because even though I have been sitting at my desk or in a court room for most the day, my toe is killing me and I am thinking of buying some orthopedic shoes if it will make the pain stop.

Stay Out of My Closet!!!!

This is a text conversation I had with 1 of my sisters today:
Middle Sister wearing my scarf...It is cute!
  • Sister: I think its crucial to the success of my outfit that u let me borrow a scarf
  • Me: Which Scarf?
  • Sister: Ur black and gray one
  • Me: WHAT....I love that scarf...its an original you cant even find that scarf anywhere
  • Sister: Michael u love all ur scarfs
  • Me: But some are more important 2 me. Plus ur sick I don't want ur germs on my scarf
  • Sister: I think u need counseling
  • Me: Why are you going through my clothes & ur sick go bck 2 bed & sleep
  • Sister: I cant
  • Me: Take some night time cold med
  • Me (again): Did you take me scarf
  • Sister: I am at home wearing it. It looks great with what I am wearing
  • Me: Snd a pic
  • Sister: I will in a minute i am resting for a sec
  • Me: Don't sleep w/scarf on you will drool or sweat on it
  • Sister: I wont
This is in fact an average conversation with either of my sister.
Cute shoes Baby Sister "borrowed"

I find it very odd that although I am the shortest and heaviest of my sisters both sister will borrow my stuff to wear. Not clothes cause they would not fit but scarves, jewelery and shoes. I can't keep either of my sisters out of my shoes. One time the Baby Sister borrowed a pair of shoes without asking and by shear luck I found them in her room hidden because she knew I was looking for them and she had not had a chance to sneak them back in my closet. In her defense they are very cute shoes and once The Middle Sister (Health Nut) tried to borrow the same shoes. But still she snuck them out of my closet then hid them when I couldn't find them. Serious she hid them under a pile of dirty clothes. Its not like she was a teenager when this happened she was 23 at the time.

Much Ado About Shoes

I have lived in Utah most of my life. When I wasn't in Utah I was in Idaho except for the 19 months I was in Las Vegas. So it's safe to say I know all about snow. After all Utah's snow is so awesome we brag about having the greatest snow on earth and have hosted the Winter Olympics. I even know all about the fun you can have in the snow. I know it's hard to imagine me outside in pleasant conditions let alone on freezing cold days but once upon a time I made snowman, had snowball fights & even took up skiing.

MY PRACTICAL BOOTS!!!
You would think after all the years I have lived in the snowy parts of the world I would wear more practical shoes. But I don't. In fact the only practical shoes I own besides 2 pair of sneakers (one of which are designer sneakers) and the other is a pair of boots my mom gave to me. They were boots my step-dad got my mom and then made sure the were water proof. They were initially suppose to be her hunting boots. (Yes I said hunting, as in going in the mountains and killing wild animals to eat. I have no problems with this I think deer and elk is actually yummy. My objects is being the one to have to go hunting, getting up before the crack of dawn to be in the cold no thank you.) So now that mom cant wear the boots, they are a bit heavy, I have inherited (because rest assured I wouldn't buy them for myself) a pair of completely practical and I suspect steel-toed boots that keep my feet dry but are not very fashionable.

You would think I would wear these boots anytime there is snow or I am doing such things as brushing the 3 inches of snow off my car or walking anywhere in the snowy weather (such as walking from my car to the mall) but I don't. Sometime I wear boots with a 2-3 inch heels when it snows but since I hurt my knee all is I wear is cute little impractical flats. That are very stylish but DO NOT keep my feet dry let alone warm. I often wonder why I don't wear the practical boots and then change into the stylish shoes at work. Maybe one day I will stop wondering and actually do it.

If you like it share it
